沥青由不同分子量的碳氢化合物及其非金属衍生物组成,常温下为黑色或黑褐色的粘稠液体或固体,在沥青混合料中主要起胶结作用。通常情况下,普通沥青混合料为黑色,改性沥青呈黑亮光泽。表面泛红主要表现在胶轮碾压后,粗集料棱角、细集料的颗粒表面沥青膜剥落、发泛红现象。
